    • We’re excited to welcome Pastor Brenda Piper as our 9 am and 11 am guest preacher. And for those who may not know her, she is also the sister of our own Herman Thomas. Pastor Brenda’s journey to ordained ministry is a wonderful story of a call that unfolded unexpectedly. After 32 years as an elementary school teacher, she entered seminary at age 54 and began a new chapter of ministry, serving congregations in Ohio and, most recently, Florida. A lifelong Lutheran, Pastor Brenda’s faith was shaped in a small African American Lutheran mission church in Evansville, Indiana, where she learned early the importance of loving God, serving others, and trusting God’s leading. Music and worship have also been an important part of her faith story. Today, Pastor Brenda serves as Assistant and Visitation Pastor at St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church in Palm Coast, Florida, and is currently serving as Interim Pastor. We invite you to join us this weekend and hear Pastor Brenda share her message and her perspective on God’s faithfulness and call.

    • Wonderfully Wired Families: Are you raising a neurodivergent child with ADHD, autism, sensory differences, anxiety, or related needs? Wonderfully Wired Families is a faith-rooted peer support community offering encouragement and connection for the whole family. (Monthly Gatherings take place at 12:00 pm on Sunday, September 13; Sunday, October 11; Sunday, November 8; and Sunday, December 13.)     • Senior Lunch: A wonderful opportunity to enjoy good food, meaningful conversation, and fellowship with friends each month. We're excited to announce that CARE Moms is now CARE Parents: Beyond the Nest. We are a welcoming community for parents and caregivers of young adults beyond high school, offering encouragement, prayer, and connection as you navigate this season together. (Meets first Tuesday of each month from September through April (excluding January), from 7 - 8:30 pm, in the Celebration Campus Conference Room.)     • Caring for Creation invites people of all ages to care for God's creation through learning, advocacy, hands-on projects, and everyday stewardship. Together, we seek practical ways to love our neighbors by caring for the world we share. Explore Caring for Creation, upcoming projects, and ways to get involved. (Meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month at the OSLC campus, from 7 pm - 8:30 pm.) 
    • Moms in Faith: A welcoming space for moms to pause, connect, and grow together through prayer, devotional discussion, and authentic conversation. Join us as we encourage one another in the journey of motherhood. (Meets Thursdays from 9–11 a.m. at Our Saviour's Campus, start-up date Sept. 8.)     • Prayer Shawl Ministry: Shawls are knit and crocheted with love and prayer by Our Saviour’s crafters for anyone in need of a physical reminder of being wrapped in the prayers of this community and of God’s unfailing love.     • Room4Both: This small group brings together adults in the LGBTQIA+ community from across DuPage and Will counties who are exploring how faith and spirituality shape our lives, identities, and experiences, including our experiences of queerness. We come from different faith traditions and places along the spiritual spectrum, creating space to share, question, listen, and grow together. (Meets from 7 pm - 8:30 pm, 2nd Monday of each month.     • Wellness: Rooted in faith and shaped by compassion, the Wellness Ministry brings our OSLC Welcome Statement to life through care, education, and advocacy. We honor the whole person and support individuals, families, and communities across all 8 dimensions of wellness- fostering resilience, belonging, and hope. Visit our page.
    • Faith & Yoga: incorporates movement, prayer, and meditation. All levels are welcome at our weekly yoga sessions, which take place on the lower level of the Our Saviour's Campus. Bring a yoga mat and water bottle. Begins on September 16. (Meets every Wednesday from 9 am - 10:15 am in the lower level at the Our Saviour's Campus.)     • Responding to Flooding in Nepal: Devastating flash floods have affected communities across Nepal and Tibet. As recovery efforts begin, we invite our congregation to pray, share, and respond. Through Lutheran Disaster Response, the ELCA works with trusted local and global partners to accompany communities impacted by disasters. This includes providing financial support, technical assistance, emotional and spiritual care, and long-term recovery support. LDR remains with communities beyond the immediate crisis, often for years as recovery continues. If you are able, please consider making a donation to support those affected by the flooding. When giving through our Lutheran Disaster Response Realm page, select “Nepal” from the dropdown menu, so your gift can be directed to this response. Donate through our Lutheran Disaster Response Realm page. Please also join us in praying for those who have lost homes, livelihoods, and loved ones, for those providing emergency assistance, and for the communities beginning the long work of recovery.

    • God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday:  Sunday, September 13, 9 am-noon, Our Saviour’s Campus,  Fellowship Hall. On God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday, ELCA congregations across the country come together to celebrate our call to love and serve our neighbors. At Our Saviour’s, we’ll put that calling into action by assembling Baby Care Kits for families in need. It’s a simple way for people of all ages to work side by side, share our gifts, and make a difference. Everyone is invited to join us!  Our worship, prayers, and music throughout the day will also focus on loving and serving our neighbors as we celebrate with the wider ELCA community.

    • Mozambique Pie Slice Sale: Saturday and Sunday, September 19-20, Both Campuses.
    • The Caring for Creation (C4C) team has been looking for practical ways we can care for God’s creation in our everyday lives, and they’ve found a great opportunity to share with the OSLC community. C4C has connected us with The Urban Canopy, a Chicago-area organization working to create a more sustainable and equitable local food system. Their work connects the whole food cycle, from growing and distributing food to collecting food scraps and turning them into nutrient-rich compost.. And this isn’t just something we’re inviting you to try. OSLC has signed up to participate in the Urban Canopy program, too! Now, you can be part of that cycle right from home. Urban Canopy will pick up your food scraps year-round and provide a clean, lined bucket with each pickup. When you sign up through OSLC’s Urban Canopy link, you’ll receive a $50 credit, and OSLC will receive a $50 credit, too. You can also receive free finished compost for your garden or houseplants. It’s a simple way to turn something we usually throw away into something that gives back to the soil while joining OSLC in a practical way to care for creation.     • Pet Loss Grief Support Group: First Saturday of each month, 1:30-2:30 pm, DuPage County Animal Services, 2255 Manchester Road, Wheaton. A compassionate space to share memories and connect with others who understand pet loss. Free, but registration is required. Email cindyshealingheart@outlook.com to reserve a seat.
    • Hear Bishop Wayne Miller with the World Doctors’ Orchestra: Friday, September 11, Wentz Hall and Saturday, September 12, at Harris Theater in Chicago. Both at 7 pm. Bishop Miller will serve as narrator for Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait with the World Doctors’ Orchestra. The World Doctors’ Orchestra brings physicians from around the world together to make music and raise funds for medical charities. Click for tickets and more information.
    • Healthy, Wealthy & Wise Senior Conference: Friday, September 11, 9 am-noon, Naperville Municipal Center. Learn about protecting yourself from scams and reducing your risk for dementia.     • See It Through My Eyes: Monday, September 14. .You are invited to attend the premiere of a documentary by Naperville High School student Maya Meschi that explores the experiences of first- and second-generation immigrant women in the U.S. and the complexities of identity, family, culture, and belonging.     • Repair Fair: Saturday, September 26, 9 am-noon, St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1313 N. Mill St., Naperville.     • A Small Change, A Big Difference: Take a look at a recent improvement that’s making access to our campuses easier and safer.
    • Scholarship Opportunity: Our Saviour’s offers scholarships to students pursuing opportunities to serve Christ in the church and the world through their education. Are you a student who may qualify?   • God Works in the Word: Matthew Small Groups


    This fall at Our Savior’s, we’ll spend six weeks exploring the Gospel of Matthew through assigned lectionary texts and discovering how God works in the Word through small group conversation, relationship, and study.

    Building on the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12), each week’s conversation will center on the appointed lectionary text while connecting back to Jesus’ teachings in the Sermon on the Mount.


    Small groups offer a variety of ages, stages, schedules, and formats, including in-person and Zoom options. Choose a day and time that works for you, and try something new, or try it again!


    No expertise needed. Simply bring your Bible and your curiosity.
