In observance of Earth Day 2026, Naperville Bonfire, a local women’s empowerment group, and Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church (OSLC) Caring for Creation ministry will co-sponsor a special presentation by author and sustainability expert Diane Osgood. The event will take place on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Celebration Conference Room at OSLC’s Celebration Campus. Osgood, a former sustainability advisor to Bill Clinton and collaborator with Richard Branson on global sustainability initiatives, will present insights from her newest book, Your Shopping Superpower: Follow Your Values and Better Your World One Purchase at a Time. Her talk will explore how everyday purchasing decisions can reflect personal values and contribute to a healthier planet.

The evening will include a brief presentation, followed by a Q&A session and book signing. A limited number of books will be available for purchase at the event; attendees are encouraged to purchase copies in advance from Anderson's Bookshop. Light refreshments will be served. Community members are invited to join Bonfire and OSLC Caring for Creation in learning practical ways to care for the environment through thoughtful, values-driven consumption.

Caring for Creation: DuPage River Cleanup
Saturday, April 18, 9 am- 12pm , Knoch Knolls Park Nature Center

OSLC Caring for Creation is excited to participate in the annual DuPage River cleanup, hosted by The Conservation Foundation. This inspiring event empowers residents to care for our shared environment by removing trash from the DuPage River and Salt Creek.  We have registered as a group at the Knoch Knolls Park Nature Center in Naperville, and we invite you to join us! There is no cost to participate.

Since the cleanup began in 1991, more than 16,000 volunteers have removed over 300 tons of debris from local waterways. These efforts help protect wildlife, improve water and shoreline quality, and enhance our community’s natural spaces.

This is a great opportunity to:

  • Make a meaningful environmental impact

  • Enjoy time outdoors and get some exercise

  • Connect with others who care about creation

How to Participate:
To join the OSLC group, please register with us by April 4. Come be part of this impactful day of service as we care for our local waterways—together.
